27.3.2. Video Reporter

Video Reporter: Manages and coordinates all contact with television stations and other electronic media concerning University events, research projects, and other programs.

The reporter encourages suggestions for television news or video feature projects. The video reporter does not produce promotional videos for specific departments.

Decisions regarding news value, best production methods, distribution to the news media, and final evaluation will be made by the video reporter/producer in consultation with the director of News and Information Services and the executive director of University Relations.

To request video news releases, do the following:

1. Determine or consider the following before requesting video services:



• Does the project have video potential? (For example, if the work is all on computers, it's not very filmable.)



• How does the project relate to the viewer? What's the connection to the public?



• Can the story be told in lay terms?



• Is there student involvement?




2. Contact the video reporter/producer by calling 7-2344 and make arrangements.
