REVISION OF SENATE BYLAWS

The Senate adopts the following amendment to the Bylaws.

C. CONSTITUENCY AND REPRESENTATION UNITS

1. CONSTITUENCY

All tenured and tenure-track faculty shall be constituents of the Senate unless excluded elsewhere. University employees, including fixed term appointments, with a minimum of 9 months, full-time (40 hours per week) or employed an equivalent number of hours, and not in a union, shall be constituents of the Senate unless excluded elsewhere. Those employees not eligible for constituency may petition the Senate through the Executive Committee to have themselves included as constituents.

2. EACH CONSTITUENT IS REPRESENTED BY ONE OF THE FOLLOWING REPRESENTATION UNITS

a. Academic Degree-granting Departments*

The Academic Faculty inside one of these units, with titles as defined in the Faculty Handbook, shall be represented by an Academic Degree-granting Department, including all tenured and tenure-track appointments. Non-tenure track academic faculty appointments, with a minimum of a 9 month, full-time (40 hours per week) appointment, except adjunct, visiting, and emeritus shall be represented by an Academic Degree-granting Department.

b. Other Course-offering Units

All constituents inside one of these units shall be represented by an Other Course-offering Unit.

c. Other Research Units

All constituents inside one of these units shall be represented by an Other Research Unit.

d. Designated Non-academic Units

Those constituents not represented by an Academic Degree-granting Department, Other Course-offering Unit or Other Research Unit shall be represented by a Designated Non-academic Unit. The Executive Committee shall determine placement of constituents within Designated Non-academic Units. Individuals may petition the Executive Committee to be placed in a different Designated Non-academic Unit on a case by case basis.
