Guidelines for the formation of this new Senate and for the drafting of a Constitution for the Academic Faculty Senate are:
I. FORMATION
i. Immediately following the approval of the referendum on this proposition, the current University Senate Constitution and Constituency
Committee will cease to exist. The Senators from academic departments and the six at-large senators will be responsible for the
formation of a committee to draft an Academic Faculty Senate constitution. A 2/3 majority of the constituency (as listed above)
will be required to approve the constitution.
ii. Senators from non-academic units will be responsible for the formation of a second committee to investigate the establishment of a new
representative body.
II. IMPLEMENTATION
The Academic Faculty Senate will assume its responsibilities following approval of its Constitution by its constituency (as listed above), the President of the University, and the Board of Control. The University Senate will be dissolved at that point, and the new Academic Faculty Senate will assume all its duties. In order to ensure continuity, University Senate Committees will become committees of the new Academic Faculty Senate and University Senate legislation will become legislation of the new Senate.
