PROPOSAL 10-74

EXTERNAL DEGREE PROGRAMS

The MTU Senate approves the concept of offering external degree programs. The specific form of external degree programs will depend on arrangements involving other schools. The administration of such programs should be subject to the following conditions:

  1. External degree programs must be subject to the same restrictions and approval mechanisms as internal degree programs. Approval of new programs is subject to Senate Policy 10-70. New courses must be approved according to Senate Policy 6-74.

  2. Any external degree program must be under the direct control of the faculty of the department offering the degree.

  3. Any instructors hired for off-campus course instruction for Michigan Tech who are not permanent members of the Michigan Tech faculty must be approved by the faculty of the department offering the degree.
