The Senate recommends the following change in the 1999-2000 academic
calendar. The date for the start of summer session in the 1999-2000 academic year shall
be changed from June 6 to May 30, 2000. Summer session classes will end on
August 11, rather than August 18, 2000. Proposal Development Proposal Died: May 12, 1999
This proposal is the result of a request by the Executive Vice President and
Provost. It reflects the desire of the staff in the residence halls to have two
weeks between the end of the summer session and the start of the fall term to
prepare the halls. Under the new semester calendar, classes will begin on August
28, 2000. Thus, summer classes need to end a week earlier than originally
scheduled.
As required by the Senate
Constitution, the Senate Executive Committee approved bringing this proposal
directly to the Senate floor for debate.
