OPTION IN STS FOR A B.S. IN SOCIAL SCIENCES


BACKGROUND:

The proposed program has been endorsed by the Department of Social Sciences. Senate Policy 10-70, Procedures for Developing Significant Changes in the Academic Program requires that the Senate Curricular Policy Committee review proposed programs and submit a recommendation to the Senate. On April 21, the Senate Curricular Policy Committee voted unanimously to recommend that the Senate approve the proposed option in Science Technology and Society for a B.S. in Social Sciences.

 

PROPOSAL:

  1. Students are required to complete all general requirements for the B.S. degree in Social Sciences.

  2. STS Option Requirements (54 total) (Course breakdown Available by Request from the Senate Office).

  3. Additional Concentration Requirements (23-32)

    Courses concentrated in a single area chosen in consultation with advisor. May include up to 15 hours of free electives (This area of concentration could be engineering, humanities, business, forestry, the sciences, or some useful and rational combination of them).
