A quarter shall contain ten full academic weeks plus a suitable final examination period.
The fall quarter shall end prior to December 25, generally somewhere near the middle of December.
The winter quarter shall start as soon as is reasonable after January 1.
There shall be at least one calendar week between the end of the winter quarter and the start of classes in the spring quarter.
Preparation of the academic calendar shall allow sufficient time for the Senate Instructional Policy Committee and for the Senate to recommend changes prior to the publication of the University catalog.
If possible, this proposal shall be in effect for academic year 1980-81; if not possible, this proposal shall be in effect for academic year 1981-82.
