The Senate of Michigan Technological University

PROPOSAL 6-77

RESPONSE TO HOUGHTON COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

The Senate of Michigan Technological University takes exception to the Resolution of the Houghton County Board of Commissioners in November which stated ". . . if a person doesn't want his salary released he should get off the taxpayers' band wagon and get an eight hour a day job, which he isn't giving the taxpayer now . . ." Whether or not a faculty member wants his salary released notwithstanding, the MTU faculty is composed of professionals who work an average of well over forty hours a week. The County Board Resolution is a slander on our professional integrity.
