BACKGROUND:

The Senate Observer to the Board of Control discussed this subject with the Board at its February 16, 1978 meeting and the Board indicated that it would welcome faculty input. This proposal would strengthen the Senate in two ways: it would provide the Senate and the faculty with the potential for input at Board meetings and it would upgrade the office of Vice President of the Senate and hence make it easier to attract qualified candidates for that position.

PROPOSAL:

In addition other duties, the Senate Vice President shall serve as the Senate's representative to the Board of Control, attending the meetings both as an observer reporting to the Senate and as a faculty resource person prepared to address the Board of Control if called upon.
