PROPOSAL 10-77

CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT TO PROVIDE SENATE REPRESENTATION FOR THE GRADUATE STUDENT COUNCIL
(AMENDMENT VI TO THE CONSTITUTION)

The Constitution of the Senate of Michigan Technological University shall be amended to include the following items in order to permit representation for the Graduate Student Council of the Michigan Technological University (new units underlined):

Article III - Membership:

A5. One graduate student member selected by the Graduate Student Council.

For election to the Senate, a two-year residency shall be required except for ROTC personnel, the student member, the graduate student member, and newly created departments having less than three faculty members meeting the minimum qualifications.

B. Terms of Office: The term of office of an elected member shall be three years except as set forth in (C), (D), (E), and (F) below.

 

F. Term of Office and Vacancies of the Graduate Student Member: The term of office of the member selected by the Graduate Student Council shall be one year. Vacancy in the graduate student membership created by resignation or otherwise may be filled by appointment by the President of the Graduate Student Council.
