PROBATION AND DISMISSAL POLICY
FOR MICHIGAN COLLEGE OF MINING AND TECHNOLOGY

 

At the end of any quarter in which a student has an honor point deficiency of ten or more for that quarter, or a cumulative honor point deficiency of ten or more to date, that student shall be placed on academic probation until such time as the honor point deficiency is removed.

At the end of any Spring quarter, a student having a cumulative honor point deficiency in excess of twenty-four, shall be dismissed from college. At least two quarters (excluding summer) must elapse between leaving for this cause and re-enrollment.

The Dean of Students shall be empowered to dismiss a student at the end of any quarter for which that student's honor point deficiency is in excess of nineteen. The same period between leaving and re-enrollment. shall hold as in the case mentioned above.

The academic records of all students on probation will be reviewed at the end of each Spring Quarter, and those students who are not making satisfactory progress may be dismissed at the discretion of the Dean of Students.

Any student who has been reinstated after dismissal because of an honor point deficiency shall be required to remove that deficiency within four quarters in residence after this reinstatement. Failure to meet this requirement shall result in a second dismissal.

At least five quarters (excluding summer) must elapse between leaving and re-enrollment. after a second dismissal for academic reasons. The same conditions for continued residence shall hold as in the case of a first dismissal.

There shall be no reinstatement after a third academic dismissal.

Petitions by students for waivers of these conditions shall be addressed to the Dean of Students.
