Proposal 11-13

(Voting Units: Academic)

“Proposal to Shelve Degree Program: B.S. in Operations and Systems Management”

Name of Program:    Bachelors of Science in Operations and Systems Management

Final semester program was open for new admits: Per Proposal 17-11, shelving will take effect June 30, 2013. The final semester will be Summer 2013 for new admits.

Plan to complete all enrolled students and any returning students: Students will be given the option to change over to the B.S. in Management with concentration in Supply Chain and Operations Management or will be allowed to complete the current program with suitable substitute courses.  Several courses listed on the degree audit were from outside of the School of Business and Economics and are not offered on a regular basis. There are courses available in the School of Business and Economics, School of Technology, and/or Department of Mechanical Engineering-Engineering Mechanics that will serve as suitable substitutes.

Reason for Shelving: The current major, B.S. in Operations and Systems Management, has been converted to a B.S. in Management with a concentration in Supply Chain and Operations Management.  There were lower than expected enrollments and the new concentration offering will allow for better utilization of faculty resources.

Financial Impact (if any) to the department and university: None
