“DEFINITION FOR DISSIMILAR REPEATS”
Proposal
Background
There have been a number of recent cases where
courses were substituted that have content that is completely unrelated to the
original course on record. The current
absence of a clear definition enables widespread abuse, resulting in obvious
grade inflation.
Proposal
The following paragraph should be added to the
catalog under Registration:
“Students who wish to repeat a course that is no
longer offered and has no active direct equivalent may request substitution
with a different course (dissimilar repeat) which covers similar material. Approval is required by the student’s
academic advisor and department chair”
