Proposal for a Change in the
Homecoming Recess in the 2005-2006 Academic Calendar
Background:
The Department of Humanities will host a
national Woman in Rhetoric conference from October 7-9, 2005. These dates coincide with Family
Weekend.
In support of and to accommodate this
conference, the Department of Humanities and Office of Student Life proposes
that Family Weekend be moved to September 30-October 1, which is currently
Homecoming weekend, and that Homecoming recess be moved from Friday, September
30, 2005 to Friday, September 23, 2005.

According to the Senate
Constitution, Section 3.A.1.f.5, the Senate (currently the PAC) has the responsibility and
authority to review and establish policy and procedures in matters pertaining
to the academic calendar.
Proposal:
Therefore, the Presidential Advisory
Committee proposes that the Homecoming recess be moved from Friday, September
30, 2005, to Friday, September 23, 2005 to support and accommodate both Family
Weekend and the Woman in Rhetoric conference.
