PROPOSAL 18-03

AMENDMENT TO PROPOSAL 10-00, APPROVAL OF MINORS IN DEGREE PROGRAMS

The Curricular Policy Committee has reviewed the proposals for the minors and found them to comply with Senate Proposal 16-97. We recommend that the Senate approve these proposals as they have been edited by the Curricular Policy Committee in consultation with the sponsoring departments as of this date. None of the proposed minors would appear to require new resources from the University as all utilize existing courses. A possible exception to this is the Interdisciplinary Minor in Remote Sensing. The proposal calls for any additional costs to be paid by the Remote Sensing Program. The proposals are available for review by contacting the Senate Office.

EXPLANATION OF CHANGES

Proposal 10-00 was written in order to approve a large number of Minors being submitted after the establishment of the Minor program by Proposal 16-97, Minors in Degree Programs. It was not an amendment to Proposal 16-97, which established the policy. The paragraph on "operative rules" in Proposal 10-00 has led to confusion in the implementation of minors, and has been removed.
