Minutes of Meeting 484

11 January 2010

 

Synopsis:

The Senate

·         Election of Senate Secretary replacement

·         Conversation with Provost candidate

 

1. Call to order and roll call. President Rudy Luck called the University Senate Meeting 484 to order at 5:30 pm on Monday, January 11, 2010. The Senate Vice-President Travis Pierce called roll. Absent were Senators Marilyn Vogler, Nick Koszykowski and representatives of Biological Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Academic Services B, Research, USG and the Graduate Student Council.

 

2. Recognition of visitors. Guests included Anita Quinn (Human Resources).

 

3. Approval of agenda. Hamlin moved approval of the agenda; L.Davis seconded the motion; it passed unanimously on a voice vote.

 

4. Vote on appointment of new Secretary.   Onder nominated Martin Thompson to the position of Secretary; Storer seconded the motion; it passed unanimously on a voice vote.

 

5. Approval of minutes from Meeting 483. Onder moved approval of the minutes; Hamlin seconded the motion; it passed unanimously on a voice vote.

 

6. Conversation with Provost Candidate

President Luck introduced the candidate for Provost  who then answered several questions from Senators. Following the presentation, President Luck thanked the candidate and reminded everyone that the candidate comment forms passed out prior to the meeting should be returned to Judi Smigowski.

 

7. Old business. There was no old business.

 

8. New business. There was no new business.

 

9. Adjournment.  President Luck declared the meeting adjourned at 6:41 pm.
