2009 Annual Holiday Event - Wednesday, December 9, 2009
Join us for an evening of fun. We'll be assembling holiday gift bags for freshman women and sampling delightful treats. Meet Patricia Nelson, a major supporter of Michigan Tech, who has graciously donated funds for our gift bags. This event will be held at the University Residence. Parking is available on the street. See you there!
Dear Friends and Colleagues, |

| Another summer has flown by and here we are beginning a new school year! The town is buzzing with all the new young energy from our students and I can’t help but get caught up in their excitement! It is also the beginning of a new year for the University Women’s Connection. As I sit back and reflect on the many friendships I have made over the years, it reminds me of how fortunate we all are to live in a small caring community. The University Women’s Connection is yet another venue to continue and strengthen those friendships and ties that we have here at Michigan Tech.
Please mark your calendars for our fall kick-off event which will be held on Wednesday, October 28th from 7:00 – 9:00 at the KBC Brewery in South Range. Watch for details and reservations! Come and enjoy beer and snacks and connect with friends old and new! | ![]() |

Our holiday event will be Wednesday, December 9th from 7:00 - 9:00 at the University Residence. This year again, we will be organizing gift bags for all first year female freshmen on campus. Please consider joining our organization again this year. Our organization is open to all women in the Copper Country who want to be part of the Michigan Tech family, so please, invite your friends to join as well! Half of our $20 dues will support a scholarship for two students on campus. We do make a difference! Click here for information and a membership form. Hope to see you all October 28th! Gail A. Mroz |

A Note from the Welcome Chair
Welcome! Whether you are new to the area, or just discovering us, I hope that you will always feel welcome to contact me with any questions or concerns. I am available to welcome people to the area, whether they’re here to interview or have just relocated here. We have a group of women that are willing to mentor a new community member if someone needs assistance on navigating in the area, or just a friend to share a cup of coffee with. I will periodically be adding tidbits of information on the web site that may make your transition, or experiences, in the Keweenaw a little easier or more interesting. I look forward to meeting you! Thank you. Stefany Valentine Cook 483-4837 valencook@charter.netIt's Official! We're now the University Women's Connection
At the December 5, 2007, Holiday Event, the membership voted to change
the organization's name. We still have the same mission, and we hope our
new name will be more inclusive and better reflect the scope of activities
and services we wish to provide to the University women's community.
Mission: The University Women's Connection provides opportunities for women in the Copper Country to meet in fun and friendship, to develop interests, and to use their many talents in service to the community.
Vision: University Women's Connection welcomes newcomers, promotes lasting friendships, links members and their families, promotes the sharing of interests and purposes, and provides annual scholarships for qualified female students at Michigan Tech.
