Adrienne Minerick is the recipient of Michigan Tech’s 2025 Faculty Distinguished Service Award.

Minerick, a distinguished professor of chemical engineering and affiliated professor of biomedical engineering, has dedicated much of her career to fostering a more inclusive, collaborative and supportive academic environment.

The distinguished service award recognizes her efforts to develop mentoring structures like Early Career Management (ECM), Advanced Career Management (ACM) and Cross-Institutional Mentoring Committees (CIMC) — systems she helped create which support faculty growth and retention across Tech’s campus.

“Adrienne’s support in mentoring both faculty and students is unwavering. She helped make Michigan Tech a home for many faculty,” said Andrew Storer, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs.

In Print

Ph.D. student Mercedes Asamani (environmental and energy policy) and Chelsea Schelly (SS) are the authors of a climate vulnerability case study published in the International Journal of Climate Change: Impacts and Responses.

The publication, titled "Assessing Climate Vulnerabilities in Rural and Low-Income Regions: A Case Study of the Western Upper Peninsula," is associated with Asamani and Schelly's work on the Center for Climate-driven Hazard Adaptation, Resilience, and Mitigation (C-CHARM) project.

The publication explores how biophysical exposure interacts with socio-economic and institutional factors to exacerbate climate vulnerabilities. It maps out who is vulnerable, why, and in what ways climate impacts disproportionately affect rural communities, thereby layering the empirical foundation for subsequent chapters.
