1. Housing Information Available in the Benefits Office
Benefits has a housing binder available for members of the Michigan Tech community who have property to sell or rent. Refer incoming faculty or staff looking to buy or rent property to the office at 487-2517 or Nancy Bykkonen at nabykkon@mtu.edu .

Properties in this binder are not appropriate for student housing.

2. Affirmative Programs Moves
Affirmative Programs has moved from the second floor to the third floor of the Administration Building, room 308.

3. Reminder: Personal Day Use
Benefits would like to remind employees that personal days must be used no later than September 4 for professionals and non-represented staff and no later than October 2 for AFSCME employees.

If personal days remain unused by this time, they will not be carried over. A personal day for the 2010-2011 year will be added effective September 5, and October 3, respectively. The personal leave balance can be viewed through Employee Self Service at www.banweb.mtu.edu .

For questions, contact Benefits at 487-2517, Payroll at 487-2130 or email Renee at rlhiller@mtu.edu .

4. On the Road
Professor Sonia Goltz (School of Business and Economics) presented "Chicken Soup for Organizational Behavior," June 17 and 18 at the Organizational Behavior Teaching Conference in Albuquerque, N.M. Goltz and Lecturer Teresa Woods (SBE) also presented "Organizational Behavior and Human Resources Teaching Moments from the Apprentice."

Director Pasi Lautala of the Rail Transportation Program and Professor Bill Sproule (CEE) participated in the Railroad Engineering Education Symposium (REES) in Kansas City, Mo., June 14-16. REES is a collaborative effort by the rail industry and academia to introduce university faculty to the basics of rail transportation and railroad engineering. Twenty-five professors from the US and Canada participated in this year's event. Both Sproule and Lautala were members of the Academic Faculty Advisory Committee for the event. Lautala also participated in the academic round table discussions and presented a module in the Railway Alignment Design and Geometry. Sproule presented a module in Transit, Commuter and Intercity Passenger Rail Transportation.
