1. Reminder: Presentation Tonight on Researching Your Property
University Archivist Erik Nordberg will give a presentation on sources and techniques for researching historic properties and buildings tonight, Tuesday, May 19, at 7 p.m. at the Michigan Tech Archives and Copper Country Historical Collections, on the ground floor of the Van Pelt and Opie Library. The presentation is part of the Archival Speakers Series and is free and open to the public.

Nordberg will provide an overview of property history records. Whether a grand historic mansion, a more humble mining company house, a downtown commercial building or even a piece of rural property, there are many documents that can help homeowners in the Copper Country understand the history of their property. The presentation will identify historical records housed at public records offices and local archives that can be useful in understanding the history of your property, the construction of your building and the people who may have lived or worked there.

For further information, contact Archives at 487-2505 or copper@mtu.edu .

2. Registration Open for Bridgefest Triathlon Hosted by Tech Tennis
The Michigan Tech tennis teams will host a triathlon Sunday, June 21, in conjunction with the annual Houghton-Hancock Bridgefest celebration.

The triathlon will be comprised of a half-kilometer swim, a 28-kilometer bike and a five-kilometer run. The race will begin at 11 a.m. at the Hancock Campground. An awards ceremony will follow the race, with medals going to the top three finishers in each age group (18 and under, 19-39 and 40 and over) and gender.

Entry fees are $35 per individual or $55 per team. All entrants will receive a T-shirt.

Entry forms can be found by clicking here or by contacting Mike Axford ( mhaxford@mtu.edu or 487-2991).

3. Biomedical Engineering Chair Candidate Seminar
Dan Ewert, chair and professor of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at North Dakota State University, will give two seminars on Thursday, May 21, at 10:30 and 11 a.m. in M & M U113. The first one is entitled "How Do You Mend a Broken Heart"; and for the second seminar, "Administrative Philosophy and Biomedical Engineering Vision," he will describe his own viewpoint.

Ewert is a candidate for chair of the Department of Biomedical Engineering.
