1. Reminder: Deadline for Year-End Donations to Michigan Tech Dec. 31
Many donors make year-end gifts to the University in order to benefit from a tax deduction for the current year. As soon as possible after you receive a contribution intended for credit in 2007, please forward it to the Tech Fund and include the envelope and supporting documents.

Credit card donations and gifts of cash or checks will be accepted at the Tech Fund office (Citizens Bank Building, seventh floor) until 3 p.m. on Dec. 31. A credit card contribution can be made online until 11:00 p.m. on Dec. 31 at www.banweb.mtu.edu/mtu/mtf/giftform.xsql .

Tech relies on the goodwill of donors, and processing their gifts in an efficient and timely manner is crucial to nurture that goodwill.

2. SBE Dean-Candidate Open Forum Rescheduled: To be Held Today
The open forum for the next School of Business and Economics dean candidate, James Payne, scheduled for yesterday, Monday, Dec. 17, has been rescheduled for today, Tuesday, Dec. 18, noon-1 p.m. in Rekhi G005.

3. JRVP Library Piloting ILLiad: Want to Participate?
The Van Pelt/Opie Library will be conducting a pilot project for on-campus delivery of library materials, including journal articles from the library's print collection, to department offices using ILLiad.

All faculty and staff are invited to participate in the pilot, which will begin during the spring 2008 semester. If you would like to participate, please send an email message to ill@mtu.edu with "DD pilot" in the subject line.

4. Winter Clothing Drive Held for Incoming International Students
The Office of International Programs and Services (IPS) is launching the Winter Clothing Drive to provide warm clothing to new international students arriving in Houghton for the spring semester. Most of the new international students are coming from Asia and are not familiar with or prepared for the Upper Peninsula climate.

To offer a warm and caring welcome to international students and their families, IPS is collecting winter clothes and items, especially new or used coats, gloves, scarves, socks and caps. All used items must be clean and in good condition. These items will be provided to students by volunteers when they arrive at the airport and will also be made available at the IPS Office, Administration 131, where they can be dropped off. IPS requests that the Michigan Tech community contribute to this drive to facilitate the cultural adjustment of our new international students.
