Tech Announces Dental, Vision Benefits for 2013
Dental and vision care benefits--the final pieces of the 2013 health care package--are now in place for faculty and staff. The University will be switching to Delta Dental with current levels of coverage for each of the two plans remaining the same. The per-person premium for the coverage provided by existing Plan 1 will be $7 a month. The premium for existing Plan 2 coverage will be $5 a month per person.
Vision care will be covered by Eyemed with a $2 per person a month premium, a $10 copay for an eye exam (dropping from 35 percent), and continuing the $350 eyeglasses allowance every 24 months.
Since different vendors will be offering dental and vision care coverage, dental and vision coverage will be "decoupled;" in other words, people can choose coverage for either, neither or both.
Online open enrollment to make these and other benefit selections will begin Monday, Nov. 12 and continue through Monday, Dec. 3.
Seven open forums are planned between Wednesday, Oct. 31 and Tuesday, Nov. 27 to help faculty and staff explore their options and make an informed choice. Times and places will be announced on the Human Resources website at Enrollment.
