Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm

Website: www.sa.mtu.edu/dean.

Michigan Tech is dedicated to assuring and enhancing opportunities for students with disabilities. The University does not discriminate in the recruitment, admission, or treatment of students. Students with documented disabilities may request appropriate modifications, accommodations, or auxiliary aids that will enable them to participate in and benefit from University educational programs and activities. Documentation provided by qualified medical and/or educational professionals should be recent (within the past three years), with specific recommendations for appropriate accommodations. These recommendations will be reviewed by University staff, in consultation with the student, for implementation.

Students requesting accommodations are encouraged to present their documentation to the Student Affairs Office, Administration 170, 487-2212. It is the students' responsibility to inform the Student Affairs Office of their class schedule for each term in which accommodations are sought. In cooperation with Michigan Rehabilitation Services and other agencies, the University will assist in providing accommodations, such as note takers, tutors, and tape-recorded textbooks. Letters, when appropriate, will be prepared for instructors informing them of a student's need for accommodation (for example, extra time to complete examinations; permitting examinations to be individually proctored; or permitting the use of tape recorders in the classroom). Architectural barriers have been removed when remodeling buildings, and barrier-free designs have been used in all new construction. The Student Affairs Office will make referrals to other appropriate University services and programs.
