Research Shows Dramatic Rise



Michigan Tech’s research production has risen dramatically over the last seven years. Research expenditures have risen from $23.8 million in 1996 to just over $30 million in 2002.

The university’s strategic plan identifies seven platforms that encompass the interdisciplinary strengths of Tech’s teaching and research expertise. The platforms include:

  • biotechnology
  • environmental science and engineering
  • manufacturing
  • nanotechnology
  • engineered materials
  • information technology
