Interview Strategy Session, Job Fair Slated For more information on this story contact:
Michigan Technological University students will have the chance to go to the source in their job search strategies on February 5. The university's career center will host a program with recruiters from 10 different companies. Students will have the chance to ask questions about finding their first jobs.
"How can I prepare for an interview? What is your hiring process? Does long hair matter for guys? Does pink hair affect your chances? What should you ask during an interview? These are the types of questions we expect to hear," said Jim Turnquist, director of the career center.
The program will take place February 5 at 6:00 p.m. in Fisher Hall 135, one of the largest lecture rooms on campus. Turnquist expects a large turnout.
"We will have people from US Steel, Kimberly Clark, Ford Motor and a number of other companies," he said. "This really is a unique opportunity for students."
The event is co-sponsored by the career center and the Michigan Tech chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
The career center is also planning its winter job fair for students on February 18. To date, 40 companies have registered to attend and recruit employees.
