Tech Hosts Native American Workshop For more information on this story contact:
JULY 5, 2005 -- Fifty-five Native American middle school students will participate in Tech's American Indian Workshop this week. Students will rotate through four instructional sessions including ecology, physiology, math and computer science. A highlight of the week will include celebrating Native American culture with a traditional medicine man presentation and keynote speaker, Jackie Bird.
In addition, a group of 70 Flint middle school students is attending a Gear Up youth program this week at Tech. The students will spend four days on the MTU campus studying environmental sustainability, chemical engineering, general engineering and aerospace engineering. This program is sponsored by Central Michigan University’s Gear Up program.
Both groups will experience a mini-version of college life, including residence hall living and recreational activities. |
