Tech Ski Team Hosts Event at Ripley

JANUARY 11, 2005 -- Michigan Tech's club downhill ski team will host a Midwest Collegiate Ski Association race at Mont Ripley on January 15-16. The event will attract teams from across the Midwest, all competing for the Yooper Cup.
Last year, the Michigan Tech men's and women's team both won the Yooper Cup.
Racers will travel from Northern Michigan University, St. Olaf College, the Univesity of Minnesota-Duluth, the University of Minnesota, the University of St. Thomas, the University of Wisconsin at LaCrosse, and several others.
On Saturday, January 15, the men will participate in the slalom, while the women will race on the giant slalom course. Runs begin at 10 am and there is no charge for spectators. On Sunday, the teams will reverse, with men on the giant slalom and women on the slalom. Sunday's runs also begin at 10.
Michigan Tech's men's team is aiming for its second straight regional championship and a seventh trip in eight years to the US Collegiate Ski Association national championships.
