September 25, 2003 -- Michigan Tech expects more than 120 employers at the annual Career Day, Tuesday, September 30. The following day, one of the top civilians in the defense department will talk with students about job opportunities with the federal government.
Career Day, a fixture at Michigan Tech for more than 30 years, provides an opportunity for students to gather information about employers and potential job opportunities.
The event runs from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Gates Tennis Center and the varsity gym. Shuttle buses will move students from the main campus to the athletic facility.
Among the companies expected to attend are 3M, Caterpillar, GM, Ford, DaimlerChrysler, Delphi, GE, IBM, John Deere and Kimberly-Clark. New employers attending include Wells Fargo and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
The next day, October 1, Michigan Tech alumnus William Cooper will give a presentation on career opportunities in the Department of Defense. Cooper is one of the top-ranking civilians in the department, responsible for the technology, engineering, and analysis behind troop deployments.
Cooper's presentation will begin at 6:00 p.m. in room 103 of the Electrical Engineering Resources Center on the Tech campus.
