I served in the US, Europe, and South Korea. I currently reside at Lake Monticello, VA, near Charlottesville. I am vice commander of Post 2003 of The American Legion. |

| David Meyers returned from a one-year deployment in Iraq. I was the commander of an Army facilities engineer team, for Camp Speicher, a base located near the city of Tikrit. Provided and maintained facilities to support the missions of the US Army and Coalition forces located at the camp. We worked 14 hour days‚ 7 days a week, although the days were long, they went by very fast. All of the members of my team returned to the United States without injury. All in all, a very successful tour of duty. |

In addition to continuing to work with the national USFS Forest inventory and analysis program, I now supervise summer interns, perform aerial sketchmapping of forest insect and disease problems, will be learning to take aerial photos, complete air photo interpretation, monitor ozone damage in vegetation around the state... The list goes on. I doubt the job will ever get boring. :) |
