HOUGHTON--A diplomat from the U.S. State Department's Bureau of South Asian Affairs will give a one-hour talk Friday, Aug. 2, at 5 p.m. at Michigan Technological University on diplomatic efforts to resolve tensions between India and Pakistan. He will be speaking in Room 139 of Fisher Hall. The public is welcome.

Todd Holmstrom is visiting Michigan Tech as part of the State Department's Hometown Diplomat's Program, an outreach program to educate the American public on what the department does and why it matters. Holmstrom is a desk officer for Bangladesh and works in Washington, DC.
Holmstrom graduated from Northern Michigan University in 1990 and joined the Foreign Service in 1995. He previously served as consul at the U.S. Embassy in Ottawa and was a political/economic officer at the U.S. Embassy in Paramaribo, Suriname.

Holstrom's visit is sponsored by MTU's Center for International Education, the MTU International Club and the Indian Students Association.
