Students Admit to Setting Fire

Four Michigan Technological University students have admitted to being involved in a fire that was set on campus early Friday morning, MTU Director of Public Safety Jon Ahola has announced.

At about 2 a.m. Friday, a student spotted a small fire on the roof of Wadsworth Hall cafeteria and notified Public Safety. A plastic bottle stuffed with paper was found burning on the roof and extinguished by the Houghton Fire Department.

The suspects have not yet been arrested, and their names are being withheld pending the authorization of charges by the Houghton County prosecutor's office, which is closed for Veterans' Day. Public Safety will bring its report to the prosecutor on Tuesday, Ahola said.
