MTU TO HOST FORESTRY SYMPOSIUM
The Michigan Tech Chapter of Xi Sigma Pi, the National Forestry Honor Society, announces its annual symposium:
"Implications of Genetic Engineering for Intensive Forest Management, An Educational Forum" to be held this Friday, April 28, 2000, from 2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. in Ballrooms B2 and B3 of the MUB.
Speakers will include:
- Dr. Shekhar Joshi (SFWP) "Forest Biotechnology: Are We Playing God?"
- Dr. Dave Canavera (Westvaco Corporation) "Industrial Perspective on Forest
Biotechnology"
- Dr. Dave Karnosky (SFWP) "Do Exotics, Clones, Hybrids, and Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO's) Have a Place in Sustainable Forestry?"
- Dr. Carol MacLennan (MTU Social Sciences) "Sustainable Forestry or Frankentrees? The Politics of Biotech Trees"
