SEELY TO RECEIVE WICKENDEN AWARD

WASHINGTON, DC--Bruce E. Seely, Professor of History at the Michigan Technological University, will receive the 2000 William Elgin Wickenden Award at a special awards ceremony to be held at the annual conference of the American Society for Engineering Education in St. Louis, Missouri on June 21, 2000. Sponsored by the Journal of Engineering Education Editorial Review Board, the award recognizes the author of the best paper published in ASEE's Journal of Engineering Education (JEE), the scholarly archival journal for the Society. The awardee receives a commemorative plaque.

Dr. Seely is being honored for his paper, "The Other Re-engineering of Engineering Education, 1900-1965," which appeared in the July 1999 issue of the Journal of Engineering Education. He has taught at Michigan Technological University since 1986. His published works have won prizes from the American Public Works Association, the Society for the History of Technology, the Railway and Locomotive Historical Soceity, and the Society for Industrial Archaeology.
