MICHIGAN TECH PRESIDENT TO HOST RECEPTION IN NORWAY
HOUGHTON, MI (USA)--Michigan Tech University President Curt Tompkins and his wife Kathy will be hosting a reception August 10 at the Oslo residence of U.S. Ambassador to Norway, David B. Hermelin and his wife Doreen.
The reception will honor the partnership between Michigan Tech, the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), and Norsk Hydro. President Tompkins will update key University alumni and friends from across western Europe and the British Isles on the latest changes taking place at Michigan Tech and will seek comments and suggestions regarding the University's new directions and programs. Special guests from Norsk Hydro, NTNU, and the University of Oslo are expected to attend.
While in Oslo, President Tompkins will also participate in an Executive Committee meeting relating to the agreement between the University and Norsk Hydro. That meeting will be hosted by Eivind Reiten, executive vice president responsible for Norsk Hydro's Light Metal segment and having a regional responsibility for the company's operations in the Americas. Michigan Tech and Norsk Hydro will be collaborating on a number of joint research projects during the next several years.
