Staff Council
Meeting Minutes
December 6, 2007

I. Guest Presentation
John Lehman, Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Services, provided
an update on recruitment efforts and enrollment projections to date.

II. Call to Order Chair Becky Christianson called the meeting to
order at 12:30 pm.

III. Members Present Ramona Backman, Rob Bishop, Nancy Bykkonen, Becky
Christianson, Diane Garrow, Peggy Gorton, Kathy Goulette, Rob Greenhoe,
Allyson Jabusch, and JoAnne Stimac.

IV. Old Business

a) Inclement Weather Committee: We drafted several questions for
Sherry Kauppi and are awaiting a reply.

b) Finance Committee Report:  No update from Bev for today.

c) Search Committee Updates: Karen Salo sent an update to Becky that
the search committee for the Dean of Sciences and Arts has developed a
tentative short list of candidates.

d) Making a Difference Awards: The date has been set for Wednesday,
December 12 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm in MUB Ballroom A. The ceremony will
be held at 4:00 pm.

e) Family Fun: March 15, 2008 is scheduled date of event.

f) Staff Awards: No report.

g) Campus tours for new employees: Ramona reported that she met
with Kyle Rubin (Admissions-tours) and Chris Secord (HR). Chris would
like a letter from Staff Council to place in the new employee packet
and a list of people who are willing to accompany the new employees on
the tours. Allyson volunteered to be the new Staff Council contact person.

h) Blood donation release time: Becky talked to Ellen and she will
bring the idea to the executive team.

V. New Business 
a) Becky presented Ramona Backman with a
certificate and gifts from Staff Council in recognition of her service
to Staff Council and Michigan Tech. We wish Ramona well in her retirement.

b) Staff Recognition Week is December 10-14. There will be a
letter from President Mroz in Tech Today recognizing the efforts of all
staff. Watch for staff profiles and articles for Staff Recognition Week
in Tech Today.

c) Becky will present to the Board of Control on Friday, December
14 about Staff	Recognition Week and Staff Council accomplishments.
