Staff Council Meeting Minutes October 18, 2007 I. Guest Presentation President Glenn Mroz provided a brief overview on the state of the University. President Mroz updated on State funding & status of the 2007-08 university budget. President Mroz also touched on "new" vision of the University. II. Call to Order Chair Becky Christianson called the meeting to order at 12:05 pm., and then recessed until 12:35 p.m. to allow for President's Mroz's presentation. III. Members Present Bev Auel, Rob Bishop, Nancy Bykkonen, Becky Christianson, Diane Garrow, Peggy Gorton, Kathy Goulette, Rob Greenhoe, Allyson Jabusch, , Susan Liebau, and JoAnne Stimac. (New member Jermy Worm arrived at 1:00 p.m.) IV. Old Business a) Becky will contact Arlene regarding "new" calendar. b) Inclement Weather Committee: The committee met and have drafted recommendations for implementing inclement weather policy. c) Finance Committee Report: Annual budget for 2007-08 is $9,500. Expenses to date include treats & frames. Balance = $9,079.16 d) Search Committee Updates: No updates at this time. e) Making a Difference Awards: The date has been set for Wednesday, December 12 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm in MUB Ballroom A. Nominations due Thursday, November 15 at 4:00 pm. President Mroz has endorsed Staff Recognition Week (December 10 -14, 2007). f) Family Fun: First meeting will be 10/22/07. March 15, 2008 is scheduled date of event. g) Staff Awards: No report. h) Ramona emailed to say she will be meeting with Chris Secord (Human Resources) & Kyle Rubin (Admissions) re: tours & lunches for new employees. V. New Business a) Becky brought forward for discussion possibility of release time for blood donation. Portage Hospital has shortage of blood. Becky will talk w/ Ellen about how best to proceed. b) Diane, Bev, Kathy will assist Becky with forming Staff Appreciation Week Committee. c) Becky will give report on December 14, 2007 to Board of Control regarding Staff Council accomplishments.
