Presentation - Bill Blumhardt, Campus Facilities Planning

Bill talked about the capital outlay projects (state contribution $7.5
million; MTU bonded $2.5 million + $500,000 for the Childcare Center) -
projects include interruptible power generators, central utility plant
energy conservation, general campus common area and classroom renewal in
Fisher Hall, Chem-Sci and Dillman Hall, Life Safety projects in Fisher and
Chem-Sci, major maintenance (roofs - Academic Office Building, Forestry,
and Walker), and relamping projects across campus 

Current value of campus facilities is $400,000,000 
Heating for the campus last year cost $2.8 million

New Business

Childcare update - Becky reported that the Michigan Tech Little
Huskies Child Development Center should be opening in early 2007.
Those interested in more information can check out the web site at
http://www.mtu.edu/childcare/.  People can sign up for a mailing list
that will provide additional information.

Presidential Open Forum - Monday, June 19 2:00 to 4:00 pm (need
volunteers) - Rob Bishop has volunteered to help; still need two more
people to help

Staff Council web site - discuss usefulness and form a subcommittee to
plan for updates - subcommittee volunteers include Ramona Backman and
Pete Larsen; Cynthia MacDonald will be asked to participate

-Michigan Tech inclement weather policy group update
-Update on replacement of Employee Excellence Award

Nov 16, 2006 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm with ceremony at 4:00 pm
-Calendar - dates to include (Parade of Nations, Family Weekend, MLK
Day, Spring Fling, etc.) - will form a subcommittee to look at next
year's calendar
