The Michigan Tech Research Award offers an opportunity for an
individual to be recognized for outstanding achievement
in research. For
the purpose of the Award, the term 'research' is to be
interpreted broadly to mean scholarly endeavor. The Award
should not only be an honor to the person so recognized,
but also symbolic of Michigan Tech's high standard of research
achievement.
The nomination should be based on the impact that a person
has made toward advancement of knowledge, or the state of
scholarship as evidenced by either a sustained productive
scholarly endeavor or a single noteworthy breakthrough in
research results. Your nomination should be accompanied by
supporting materials as indicated below.

Vice President for Research office, to be received no later
than 4:00 pm on Thursday, April 23, 2009.
In the fields of business, science and engineering
- Full curriculum vita.
- List of published books and journal articles (annote the
top 5) that are considered most noteworthy - rate the "impact
factor" of each of these publishers and journals as high,
average, or low.Summary of citations for published works will be considered in the review process.
- List of grants and contracts, with the name(s) of co-PI(s).
- Special recognition and awards by national and international
professional societies.
- Short statement assessing the impact the nominee has made
in her/his discipline, to their department, and to Michigan
Tech including any impact on students.
- External letters of support describing impact in their field will be considered in the review process, a limit of four(4) will be accepted.
In the fields of humanities and arts
- Full curriculum vita.
- List of published books and journal articles (annote the
top 5) that are considered most noteworthy - rate the "impact
factor" of each of these publishers and journals as high
average, or low.
- Summary of citations for published works will be considered in the review process.
- List of public achievements recognized by national and
international professional societies as evidence of outstanding
scholarly or creative work including multimedia, artistic
exhibits, competitions, performances, commissions, productions,
recordings, compositions, play scripts, or other artistic/creative
works.
- Awards, prizes, honors, citations, or distinctions that
indicate national or international recognition for scholarly
or creative work.
- Short statement assessing the impact the nominee has made
in his/her discipline, to their department, and to Michigan
Tech including any impact on students.
- External letters of support describing impact in their field will be considered in the review process, a limit of four (4) will be accepted.
