What is NCBI?
"What is NCBI?"

The National Coalition Building Institute is a nonprofit leadership training organization based in Washington, D.C. It was founded in 1984, and has been working to eliminate prejudice and intergroup conflict in communities throughout the world.
The Michigan Tech NCBI Chapter is a member of NCBI's COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY PROGRAM, which was launched in 1990 after several faculty and staff members had participated in the 3-day campus training of trainers program. The training participants came together and decided to form a campus team that would work together throughout the year leading prejudice reduction programs on campus - in faculty meetings, student orientation sessions, classrooms, residence halls, open community forums, and student organizations.
The NCBI team is trained to intervene when heated controversial issues threaten to polarize the campus community. Annually our team members are offered the opportunity to attend the Campus Conference where all NCBI-trained teams come together to share resources and improve skills.
