Publications, Logos, and Images

University Relations (UR) monitors the University image and examines the compatibility of documents, ensures accuracy of information, and sustains a high level of quality of publications. Before beginning any communication/publication project, note the following:

  • All student recruiting materials and alumni communications in any media must be reviewed and approved by University Relations prior to publication or release to ensure unified and consistent messages to potential students and our alumni.

  • Publications of all types must include a clear visual representation of Michigan Tech as well as a specific department, division, or unit.

  • Any communication/publication that represents or mentions the University in detail, must meet the overall University communication/publication standards as developed by UR. The University Relations department publishes the University Style Guide and is available for consultation on any communications project.
  • Michigan Tech's registered trademarks are "Michigan Technological University," "Michigan Tech," "Huskies," the official University seal, the Michigan Tech logotype, the Huskies seal, the Huskies script, and Husky Dog. Any other design, symbol, drawing, seal, word, or group of words that have become associated with the University may also function as trademarks. See samples on page 2 or at: http://www.mtu.edu/wwwhelp/logos.html.

The use or display of any of these symbols requires approval from UR. The use of the Michigan Tech's name, logos, seals, and/or other symbols of Michigan Technological University in any commercial venture requires prior written approval from the Intellectual Property Office.
