Compensation Policy
The University is committed to providing a compensation plan that maintains internal equity and external competitiveness, rewards excellent performance, treats employees fairly, complies with applicable laws, and provides flexible but consistent administration within the University's budget constraints.
When hired, your position classification and salary were determined by your department in consultation with the Classification/Compensation Office. This office is responsible for establishing and maintaining the classification and salary administration program. Classification/Compensation is a unit of Human Resources.
Direct Deposit
You may have your paycheck directly deposited in any financial institution in the United States. A direct deposit form is available by calling Payroll.
Pay Periods
All staff are paid every two weeks. Depending on your department's policy, you may be required to fill out a time card. Payday is on Friday unless otherwise announced (due to a scheduled holiday or an unforeseen University emergency). Each biweekly pay period begins at 7:00 a.m. on the Sunday before the next payday and ends at 6:59 a.m. on Sunday, fourteen consecutive days later. You will receive a pay stub with your paycheck or direct deposit notice that will give the details of your pay, taxes withheld, deductions, and vacation and sick-leave balances. Employees should review each pay stub and report any inaccuracies to Payroll.
Payroll Deductions
As required by law, income tax and social security (FICA) are withheld from each paycheck. In addition, deductions will be made for mandatory items and, with your written approval, for optional items such as group life insurance, group health programs, supplemental retirement annuities, long-term disability, United Way, credit union, and United States savings bonds.
Salary Adjustments
Annually, around the beginning of July, the Office of the Executive Vice
President and Provost initiates a salary adjustment process through the departments.
The process for salary adjustments varies by department. Please contact your
supervisor for further information .
