Communications

Several systems are in place for communicating information about MTU events and personnel across campus. For example, there is an e-mail list for all departments to receive information (certain restrictions apply as to the type of information that can be relayed in this fashion; contact the Tech Topics editor in University Relations for details). In addition, all five of the following internal communications can be found on the Web through MTU's home page.

• MTU Home Page(http://www.mtu.edu) - Maintained by University Relations. Check for up-to-date information about the University, students, staff, faculty, events, programs, etc.

• Tech Topics - the weekly MTU employee newsletter published by University Relations. Each week, the deadline for submitting is Friday at 5:00 p.m. for the following Friday's distribution. Typed releases are accepted, but the best way to submit news to the editor is by e-mail ttopics@mtu.edu. Tech Topics' website can be found at: http://www.mtu.edu/news/ttopics.

• Michigan Tech Lode - the weekly, student-produced, campus newspaper. It includes campus and local news and events, sports, editorials, and classifieds. It is distributed free of charge every Friday that Michigan Tech is in normal session. The office is located in the Memorial Union Building. You can find the Lode's website at:
http://www.mtulode.com. The Lode's email address is lode@mtu.edu.
• MTU Calendar of Events - an electronic calendar of events, found on MTU's home page, that combines the academic, cultural, and sports calendars. It is maintained by University Relations. To add a University event to the calendar, send e-mail to webcal@mtu.edu. You can also find the Events Calendar at: http://www.mtu.edu/urel/events2/.

• Electronic Display System - a video bulletin board service for the Michigan Tech campus. Available to all Michigan Tech organizations, the EDS promotes events such as public lectures, seminars, concerts, performances, and campus meetings. Requests for announcements on the EDS are processed through Educational Technology Services, require three days' notice, and can be submitted electronically to eds@mtu.edu or visit the webiste at: http://www.ets.mtu.edu/eds.
