Meeting Notes from August 7, 2000

Rogers opened the meeting presenting the agenda and reviewing the two forums, noting low attendance (one) by faculty. Plans were made for another forum Thursday, September 7th at lunch time. Discussion included shortening the presentation for the forum and focus on concrete recommendations based on feedback so far.
Discussion ensued on the Fringe Benefit Rates and direct charging Holiday while accruing Sick and Vacation Leave. Pickens favored not including the 4% of MPSERs fixed costs; other members disagreed and preferred the university acknowledge the importance of research and give a formal commitment of a "subsidy" of some amount in the rate.
Next week members are to state their preference of two methods (out of 5) and the group will work toward consensus on final recommendations. Meeting closed 10:00 a.m.
