2. What to Lock Out
During servicing or maintenance, a machine utilizing any mechanical power source
such as electrical, pneumatic, steam, or hydraulic must be locked out when the
unexpected energization or startup of the machine or equipment or release of stored
energy could cause injury to employees. The lockout must render the machine inoperative
and immovable.
