Facilities Building Operations

Building Operations is responsible for providing building attendant and custodial services in all the academic office buildings across campus.

Our Building Attendants are responsible for routine building maintenance such as minor repairs to windows, doors, locks, lights, plumbing fixtures, etc.

Our Custodians are responsible for the following services:

  • Restroom cleaning on a daily basis
  • Classrooms - sweep, clean boards, empty trash on a daily basis
  • Laboratories: Clean three times per week
  • Offices: Sweep or vacuum every other day, empty trash daily
  • Stairways: Cleaned once per week
  • Maintain Alumni House three times per week
  • Maintain Hamar House/Widmaier House two times per week
  • Waxing: Once per year - heavy traffic areas during breaks
  • High-Rises: Sub-basement and basement areas cleaned two to three times per week
  • Carpet Shampooing: Annually and as demand and time permits
  • Washing of lights, blinds, windows once a year usually in the summer time
  • Snow shoveling and entrance/hallway maintenance is performed as needed

The following custodial services are not performed:

  • Dusting/cleaning of office furniture
  • Washing walls
