MTU maintains a full-time Veterans' Affairs Office to coordinate services available to incoming and presently enrolled veterans. The office is located on the first floor of the Administration/Student Services Building, Room 110.
What do I need to do to apply for benefits?
Contact the MTU Veterans Affairs Coordinator @ (906) 487-2319 and ask for an application form, the Coordinator will also send you a general information sheet concerning your entitlement and VA regulations.
What types of benefits are available?
- The Montgomery GI Bill (Chapter 30)
- Active Duty Educational Assistance Program (Chapter 30), A program of education benefits generally for individuals who entered active duty after June 30, 1985 and served continuously for three years or by serving two years on active duty followed by four years of Selected Reserve.
- The Montgomery GI Bill (Chapter 106)
- Selected Reserve Educational Assistance Program, A program of education benefits for members of the Reserve elements of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and the Air National Guard.
- To be eligible for the program, a reservist must have a six-year obligation to serve in the Selected
Reserve signed after June 30, 1985.
- Survivors' and Dependents' Educational Assistance (Chapter 35)
- Educational assistance benefits are available to spouses and children of:
- veterans who died, or are permanently and totally disabled as the result of a service-related disability.
- servicepersons presently missing in action or captured in the line of duty.
- Disabled Veterans Assistance (Chapter 31)
- Vocational Rehabilitation for service-connected disability
