Student Organizations
Society of Intellectual Sisters
The
Society of Intellectual Sisters was founded on Michigan Tech's campus on November of 1991 by 22 women who were in search of a sisterhood that would last throughout their college years and beyond and allow them to serve their immediate community to provide a better environment for everyone. Twenty years later SIS is still present on campus promoting sisterhood, academic excellence, diversity, and above all serving the community. Members of SIS focus on learning about and supporting the various cultures and people at Michigan Tech and in the local community. SIS is also dedicated to improving the local Keweenaw community by participating in numerous community service activities during the year.
Society of Women Engineers
Society of Women Engineers (SWE) works to stimulate women to achieve full potential in careers as engineers and leaders, expand the image of the engineering profession as a positive force in improving the quality of life, and demonstrate the value of diversity.
Women's Leadership Council
The Women's Leadership Council (WLC) provides an opportunity for Michigan Tech women to cultivate leadership skills by serving on a committee to help plan, develop, and implement programs and events for women.
