IMPORTANT NOTES
  • Your petition must be submitted at least six weeks prior to the term in which you wish to be reinstated.
  • If you have attended any other school since leaving Tech, please provide us with a copy of your transcript.
  • If you have worked, please have your employer/supervisor send us a letter of performance evaluation. Supporting documentation should be sent to:
    Vice President for Student Affairs
    170 Administration Building
    1400 Townsend Drive, Houghton MI 49931-1295.
  • Your request will not be considered until all outstanding holds are removed from your record.
  • You will be notified by email of the Scholastic Standards Committees decision.


  • Your answers to the following questions will be the determining factor in our decision.
    1. Why did you perform so poorly while at Michigan Tech?
    2. What have you been doing to improve yourself since leaving Michigan Tech?
    3. Why will you be able to do satisfactory work if reinstated?
    4. What has changed so that you predict a different, more successful outcome on reinstatement?
