If you wish to appeal your academic suspension or dismissal, you must complete the Petition to Appeal Academic Suspension/Dismissal and submit to the Office of Student Affairs online, by mail or fax by Wednesday, August 25.
If you have documentation in support of your appeal, please fax (906/487-3060) or mail (Office of Student Affairs, 170 Administration Building, 1400 Townsend Drive, Houghton MI 49931) to our office by Wednesday, August 25. Please be sure to clearly indicate that your documents are in support of your Petition to Appeal Academic Dismissal and include your MTU student id#.
You will be notified of the outcome of your appeal by email within 72 hours after it is received.
If your appeal is denied, you will be eligible to seek reinstatement one semester plus a summer after your suspension if this is your first suspension or two semesters plus a summer after your suspension if this is your second suspension. You may request an interview with a member of the Scholastic Standards Committee (Les Cook, Gloria Melton or Bonnie Gorman) to seek advice about how best to plan for the future, however, the meeting will not change the appeal decision.
If you have any questions, please call the Office of Student Affairs at 906/487-2212 or email us at studentaffairs@mtu.edu.
