The University Career Center is designed to help both undergraduate and graduate students with career decisions. Popular services include resume critiquing; Career Days; job fairs in Minneapolis, Grand Rapids, and Detroit; interest testing with SIGI-PLUS; an Alumni Job Telethon; and a variety of seminars. Seminars are offered on resume writing, interviewing, job search strategies, orientation to the Career Center, and other topics by request. On-campus interviews are also offered for co-op, summer, and permanent employment. Live interactive video interviews are available with companies who cannot easily come to campus. The Career Center has extended evening hours to meet student demand.
Most of these services are available for distance learning students. Any MTU student or any alumni may attend off-campus job fairs and prepare for these ahead of time by reading company information on our home page at http://www.ucc.mtu.edu. Distance learning students may be especially sought after at these events because employers are eager to talk to MTU grads with experience.
Video interviews also benefit distance learning students by linking you to employers with a video-conferencing system. The Career Center would be happy to assist you in working out individual arrangements.
